Frequently Asked Questions

The Vibe & Connection

  • It means I understand the unique "weight" you carry as a cycle-breaker. We focus on the pressure of being the "success story," navigating imposter syndrome in corporate spaces, and setting boundaries with family while staying rooted in your culture. I provide a space where you don’t have to explain the cultural context—I already get it.

  • ¡Si. Hablo español! As a Latina therapist, I provide bilingual sessions. You are welcome to move between English and Spanish as you feel comfortable. Sometimes certain emotions or "dichos" are just easier to express in your native language, and I’m here for all of it.

  • I’m not the "blank slate" type who just nods and asks, "How does that make you feel?" I’m active, down-to-earth, and human. We’ll laugh, we might cry, we’ll use some profanity, and we’ll definitely get real! My goal is to be a collaborative partner in your healing, not a rigid authority figure.

  • Success doesn’t always equal peace. If you’re struggling with high-functioning anxiety—that feeling of being "on" 24/7, overthinking every email, and fearing someone will find out you're a "fraud"—you deserve a space to exhale. You don't have to wait for a crisis to seek support; therapy is a tool to prevent burnout before it happens.

What to Expect (Logistics)

  • The first session is an "intake," where we’ll dive into your history and what’s bringing you in now. After that, we find our rhythm. Some days we’ll focus on deep heavy stuff, and other days we’ll tackle the work-life balance stress you felt that morning. We move at your pace.

  • Most people start with weekly sessions, especially if we’re tackling something heavy like trauma or anxiety. It keeps the momentum going so we’re actually making progress instead of just "catching up" every time. As you begin to find your rhythm and meet your goals, we can talk about dropping back to every other week to make sure therapy continues to fit your life.

  • At this time, I specialize exclusively in individual therapy for adults (18+). My focus is on helping individuals navigate their own "internal noise," burnout, and personal growth. If you are looking for couples support, I am happy to provide referrals to other providers who specialize in that area.

Virtual Therapy

  • It’s simpler than you might think. We meet via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform (similar to Zoom, but private). Before our session, you’ll receive a unique link. You just need a stable internet connection and a private spot where you feel comfortable speaking freely. Many of my clients find they can "exhale" more easily in their own space without the stress of a commute.

  • Absolutely! Research shows that the therapeutic bond—the "vibe" and connection we build—is just as strong online as it is in person. For busy individuals, virtual therapy is often more effective because it removes the "travel time" barrier, making it easier to stay consistent with your healing.

  • Yes. Due to licensing regulations, you must be physically located within the state of California at the time of our session. While you don’t have to live in a specific city, both the therapist and the client must be in the state where the therapist is licensed (LMFT #133163, LPCC #13952) during the call.

  • I get it! Finding privacy can be a challenge. I have many clients who successfully have their "meaningful pause" from their parked car, a quiet park, or by using headphones and a white noise machine at home. As long as you feel safe and won't be interrupted, we can make it work!

  • Technology isn't perfect, but we’ll have a backup plan. If the video cuts out, I will call you immediately at the number on file so we can continue our session via phone or troubleshoot the connection together. Your time is valuable, and I make sure we don't lose it to tech issues.

Fees & Insurance

  • My fees are $175 for the initial intake session and $150 for individual 50-60 minute sessions. Investing in private pay therapy ensures that your care is driven by your specific goals—not by the limitations or requirements of an insurance company.

  • Psych Reflections is an out-of-network provider. While I do not bill insurance companies directly, many PPO plans offer reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. This model allows me to provide a higher level of specialized, confidential care without a third party dictating the length or type of your treatment.

  • Choosing private pay offers you the highest level of privacy and clinical freedom. When you use insurance, I am required to provide a mental health diagnosis that becomes a permanent part of your medical record. Private pay allows us to focus on your growth without labels, and it ensures that the frequency and length of our sessions are determined by your needs—not an insurance company’s restrictions.

  • A superbill is an itemized document I provide to you at the end of each month. It contains all the necessary coding for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Most clients find the process simple: you just upload the PDF to your insurance portal, and they send a check directly to you for the covered portion of the fee.
I always recommend calling your insurance first to ask about your 'out-of-network' benefits so there are no surprises.

  • I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking:

"Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?"

"What is my deductible, and has it been met?"

"What is the reimbursement rate for CPT code 90837?"

  • I accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards through a secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal. Payment is due at the time of your session, and your card is kept securely on file to make the process as seamless and "hassle-free" as possible.

  • I maintain a 24-hour cancellation policy. Because that hour is reserved specifically for you, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full fee. This policy respects both my time and the commitment you are making to your own growth.
